DIRECTION: GRAPHIC An Exhibition of Graphics by Magda Wosik

Ancien Cinéma is pleased to present DIRECTION: GRAPHIC, an exhibition showcasing the works of renowned Polish artist Magda Wosik – graphic designer, illustrator, author, and satirical cartoonist. Her art moves between playful children’s illustration, social commentary, and visual storytelling.
A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, Magda Wosik has illustrated for numerous publications and created award-winning books, including Oh, wow! A Dragon in a Tie!, named Best Children’s Book of 2011 in the Przecinek i Kropka competition.
With over 200 group exhibitions and more than 30 solo shows in Poland and abroad, Wosik is a prominent voice in contemporary graphic arts.

Magda Wosik

She graduated in Graphic Design from the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wrocław (now the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts).
Graphic designer, illustrator, author of drawings and texts, and lecturer. For many years, she collaborated as an illustrator with Gazeta Wyborcza, Gazeta Wrocławska. Polska The Times, and the children's biweekly Miś, for which she also wrote texts. For the past thirteen years, she has been working with the children's monthly Świerszczyk. Currently, she focuses her work on posters, satirical drawings, and children's illustrations. She illustrates the works of other authors but also has authored books of her own.
She is the co-author of the anti-coloring book O, ja cię! Smok w krawacie! ("Oh, wow! A Dragon in a Tie!"), recognized as the Best Children's Book of 2011 in the Przecinek i Kropka competition, as well as the 2013 doodle book Agencja z o.o.. She illustrated The Witch One Floor Down by Marcin Szczygielski, Marysiu, what do you think? by Manuela Gretkowska, the series Bzik & Makówka Present by Rafał Witek, as well as Pan Tadeusz in Pictures, an attempt to present the national epic in comic book form.
Thirty years ago, she saw her first poster exhibited at the Poster Museum in Wilanów and made her debut as a caricaturist. Since then, she has participated in over 200 group exhibitions and more than 30 solo exhibitions in Poland and abroad. She is the recipient of numerous awards and distinctions for her graphic works, ex libris prints, satirical drawings, posters, book illustrations, and even a lamp design.

L’Ancien Cinéma a le plaisir de présenter DIRECTION : GRAPHISME, une exposition consacrée à Magda Wosik, artiste polonaise renommée, graphiste, illustratrice et auteure. Son travail navigue entre l’humour graphique, l’illustration jeunesse et le dessin satirique.
Diplômée de l’Académie des Beaux-Arts de Wrocław, Magda Wosik a collaboré avec de nombreux journaux et revues pour enfants, et a publié plusieurs livres, dont certains primés. Elle est notamment coautrice du livre anti-coloriage Oh, waouh ! Un dragon en cravate !, élu Meilleur Livre pour Enfants en 2011.
Avec plus de 200 expositions collectives et 30 expositions personnelles à son actif en Pologne et à l’étranger, Magda Wosik s’impose comme une figure majeure de la scène graphique contemporaine.

Diplômée en graphisme de l’École Supérieure d’Arts Plastiques de Wrocław (aujourd’hui Académie des Beaux-Arts Eugeniusz Geppert).
Graphiste, illustratrice, auteure de dessins et de textes, et enseignante. Pendant de nombreuses années, elle a collaboré en tant qu’illustratrice avec Gazeta Wyborcza, Gazeta Wrocławska. Polska The Times ainsi qu’avec le bihebdomadaire pour enfants Miś, pour lequel elle a également écrit des textes. Depuis treize ans, elle travaille avec le mensuel pour enfants Świerszczyk. Actuellement, elle concentre son activité sur l’affiche, le dessin satirique et l’illustration jeunesse. Elle illustre des textes d’autres auteurs, mais a également publié ses propres livres.
Elle est coautrice du livre anti-coloriage O, ja cię ! Smok w krawacie ! (« Oh, waouh ! Un dragon en cravate ! »), élu Meilleur Livre pour Enfants 2011 dans le cadre du concours Przecinek i Kropka, ainsi que du livre à gribouiller Agencja z o.o., publié en 2013. Elle a illustré La sorcière un étage plus bas de Marcin Szczygielski, Marysiu, que penses-tu ? de Manuela Gretkowska, la série Bzik & Makówka présentent de Rafał Witek, ainsi que Pan Tadeusz en images, une tentative de transposition de l’épopée nationale en bande dessinée.
Il y a trente ans, elle voyait pour la première fois une de ses affiches exposée au Musée de l’Affiche de Wilanów et faisait ses débuts en tant que caricaturiste. Depuis, elle a participé à plus de 200 expositions collectives et plus de 30 expositions personnelles en Pologne et à l’étranger. Elle a reçu de nombreux prix et distinctions pour ses oeuvres graphiques, ex-libris, dessins satiriques, affiches, illustrations de livres et même pour un projet de lampe.
