Krzysztof Karpiński / Krzysztof Sadowski: music of Henryk Wars

An excellent piano jazz duo of Krzysztof Karpiński and Korzysztof Sadowski will present the music of a Polish composer Henryk Wars.  Wars (true name Warszawski) was a Polish pop music composer.  In he 1930s, he composed music scores for 50 films in Poland and 60 more in the United States. He is an author of dozens of hits for revue-theatres and films including Miłość ci wszystko wybaczy (Love Will Forgive You Everything) sung by Hanka Ordonówna, Umówiłem się z nią na dziewiątą (I Have a Date with Her at Nine) and Sex Appeal sung by Eugeniusz Bodo, Ach, jak przyjemnie (Ah, How Lovely!) and Już nie zapomnisz mnie (Now, You Will Remember Me) sung by Aleksander Żabczyński.

Karpiński/Sadowski will also play the American jazz standards and their original compositions.

Krzysztof Sadowski  is a jazz pianist and composer.  He is also a long-time serving President of the Polish Jazz Association and a promoter of jazz education for many generations of jazz musicians.  He played with the best Polish jazz musicians (such as Namysłowski, Urbaniak or Kurylewicz just to name a few) and regularly performed in Europe, the US and Asia.  He is a leader of the 'Organ Group' where he plays Hammond organs.  He is married to a jazz singer, Liliana Urbańska and is a father to Maria Sadowska (jazz singer, composer and a film director).

Krzysztof Karpiński is a lawyer, music journalist and pianist.  While he continues to persue his career as a judge of the Court of Appeals in Warsaw, he also serves also as a Vice President of the Polish Jazz Association and is well recognized as an author of jazz history books.  He is an author of a biography of a Polish pianist Mieczyslaw Kosz ('Only sadness is beautiful', 1990).  His most recent book, a history of Polish jazz in the years 1918-39 ('All that jazz. Scream of jazz band in the interwar Poland'),  published in 2014, is a real page-turner that also collected the 2015 Awards for Excellence honor books from American Association for Recorded Sound Collections.   This book will be presented during the concert in Ancien Cinema.

Concert is organized in frame of Cineast Festival 2016 with financial support of Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
