Ancient Light
In the historic walls of Ancien Cinéma Vianden, an ancient spectacle of light unfolds. The organization Nightwise presents images formed by light that has traveled for millennia, revealing the fundamental architecture of the cosmos. Their photographs capture the glowing birthplaces of new stars and the vast structures of distant galaxies, a profound beauty that hangs, largely unseen, above our heads.
This cosmic spectacle is a fragile inheritance. This exhibition is not only meant to share the beauty of the night sky but also to raise awareness about the growing threat of light pollution, which endangers our view of the cosmos and the ecosystem around us. Through their newly founded Luxembourg-based organization, Nightwise, Adriano Anfuso and Loïc Hommel channel their mission to combine art, science and education. They invite us to look up, question the light we cast, and reclaim the profound and rich darkness that holds our shared celestial heritage.
